Looking for the WPTF typeface?

Recently, I’ve been on a search to find an ancient Greek-style typeface similar to the one used for the album cover.

I’m pleased to say I’ve found a very good match. The font is called “Pirho Herakles” and can be downloaded from here for free. Here’s some sample text:

I think you’ll agree it’s an excellent match.

I’m also looking for the typeface that was used in the title captions and the logo for the serial:

If you do happen to come across it, please let me know using the comments facility or the Contact page.

  1. This is an amazing site! I’m a huge fan of WPTF, I saw it on TV in 1977 when it first aired. I was 21 then! Such a long time ago! I bought the Dutch DVD when I discovered it, and my adult children watched it too, and loved it just as I did. We’ve watched it so many times since that we practically know it by heart, but didn’t know, apart from the fact it’s Crete, where the locations were, so your site is a Godsend, as we’ve often talked about going to Crete & trying to find them! Thank you so much for the huge amount of work you’ve done!

    1. Hi! Thanks so much for your kind words, they’re really appreciated. If you go to Crete be sure to take photos of the locations you visit! I’m always interested in hearing whether visitors to the site have used it to take some photos of what the locations look like today.
